Description

This giant will grow to 3-4 m (10-12 ft) or more. The large flower heads can reach a diameter of 38 cm (15 in) and will produce loads of tasty, thin-shelled striped seeds rich in protein. The World Record 210 cm (38 in) diameter.

Planting Instructions

Sow seed in the garden in early spring, once the danger of frost is passed. Make sure the soil is well worked. Cover seed with about 1 cm (1/2 in) of soil. Sow 2 seeds per 30 cm (12 in) of row, after germination thin plants to 45 cm (18 in) apart. Ideal for a tall background screen. Attracts birds and the cured seed provides winter feed. Cut heads after florets have withered and hang to dry under cover. Fertilize every 2 weeks with 10-52-17 water soluble fertilizer. Garden spacing 45 cm (18 in) apart.
