A very compact yet heavy producing strain of Soybean! The 45 cm (18 in) plants will yield 50-60 pods per plant. Pick green when the beans are plump–boil and then salt and enjoy the sweet nutty flavour. Very high in protein, iron and fibre.
Soy Beans need a warmer soil to germinate, at least 17 C (65F), cold soil can actually cause permanent shock to plants and they never recover. Sow in rows 75 cm (30 in) apart when danger of frost is past, 2.5 cm (1 in) deep and 10 cm (4 in) apart. Press down soil and keep moist till germination. Thin seedlings to 20 cm (8 in) apart. For earlier crops start indoors 14-21 days prior to transplanting out in 6 cm (2 1/4 in) peat pots. Bean roots are close to surface, do not cultivate too deep. Harvest when Beans are plump and almost touching each other in the pod. For best results use Nature’s Aid Legume Inoculant, an organic non-chemical product which enhances root growth and yield.
