Stone Fruit Orchard Collection

Stone Fruit Orchard Collection

Four hardy trees, one self-sufficient orchard. The Stone Fruit Orchard Collection brings together three Prairie-tough plums and a dependable pear - and cracks the toughest part of growing hardy plums by packing in the very tree that pollinates the rest.

What's inside:

  • 8025A - American Wild Plum - 1 Tree
  • 8044A - Beedle Pear Tree - 1 Tree
  • 8026A - Patterson Plum - 1 Tree
  • 8023A - Pembina Plum - 1 Tree

This is a balanced little orchard built to take care of itself. Both the Patterson and Pembina plums need a wild plum to set fruit, so the American Wild Plum is included to pollinate them both - your plums are ready to produce from day one, while the wild plum earns its place with ornamental spring bloom and fruit of its own. The zone-2-hardy Beedle pear rounds out the harvest with soft, sweet pears that ripen in early September and store beautifully. From fresh eating to jams, baking, preserves, and drying, it's everything you need to start a productive backyard orchard - four trees, each maturing to roughly 15 ft.

These wild plums are so small, about 6”, that you can hardly see them when planted. We had to put flags near them. I’ve been a customer for probably 20+ years and while the service is good, the bareroot stock used to be much bigger. The last several years or so, not so much. I was thankful to have found these trees though and the shipping was not too bad.

American Wild Plum rootstock is shipped as young, dormant bare-root stock. Because these are first-year plants, they may appear smaller than expected upon arrival. This is normal and does not reflect the health or future performance of the plant.

Once planted and given proper care, the root system will begin to establish, and the tree will direct its energy toward developing new shoots and growth. We recommend planting as soon as possible, watering consistently, and fertilizing according to the manufacturer's recommendations to encourage healthy establishment.

With proper growing conditions, American Wild Plum trees typically put on significant growth during their first growing season!
