T&T's Burlap Seed Starting Kit

PRO TIPS
BURLAP SEED STARTING KIT

The Burlap Seed Starting Kit helps protect newly planted seeds during their most vulnerable stage, right after planting.

BETTER GERMINATION. STRONGER STARTS.

Small seeds often struggle to germinate due to uneven moisture, heavy rainfall, or being eaten by birds. The Burlap Seed Starting Kit creates a protected micro-environment that helps seeds sprout more evenly.

The breathable burlap holds moisture, shields seeds from harsh conditions, and allows gentle watering without washing seeds away or compacting soil.

KIT BENEFITS & WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • Improves germination success
  • Prevents seed displacement from rain or irrigation
  • Protects seeds from birds and direct sunlight
  • Helps maintain consistent soil moisture
  • 12 in. × 10 ft. pre-cut burlap sheets (2)
  • 12 in. landscape staples (20)
  • Easy step-by-step instructions

HOW TO USE YOUR BURLAP GERMINATION KIT

  1. Prepare the soil: Loosen the top 6 in. of soil and rake smooth to create a fine seedbed.
  2. Plant your seeds: Sow seeds according to the instructions on your seed packet.
  3. Moisten gently: Lightly mist the soil to moisten without disturbing the seeds.
  4. Cover with burlap: Lay a single sheet of burlap over the seeded area and secure it with the provided landscape staples.
  5. Water regularly: Mist the burlap daily or whenever it begins to dry out. Keep it damp, not soaked—excess moisture can prevent germination.
  6. Monitor and remove: Check under the burlap daily. Once seedlings emerge and show their first leaves, remove the burlap so plants can receive light and air.

After germination, burlap can be left between rows as a mulch to help suppress weeds and retain moisture.
