BLEEDING HEART PLANTING & CARE

Looking to grow beautiful, healthy bleeding hearts in your garden? You've come to the right place! This comprehensive growing guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from planting to harvest.

PLANTING

Plant roots with a soil cover of 1.5 in., firming the soil around them
Location: Choose a shaded location with enriched soil
Watering: Water deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist

TIMING

Plant in early spring or fall when temperatures are cool. Bleeding Hearts go dormant in late summer, reducing water needs.

SOIL & WATERING

• Prefers rich, well-draining soil with added organic matter like leaf mold
• Keep soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging
• Apply mulch, such as a mix of leaves and twigs, to retain moisture and protect roots

FERTILIZING

No heavy fertilization required. A light application of compost or well-balanced fertilizer in early spring can promote healthy growth.
