How tro winterize Asclepias Tuberosa

Question

Accepted Answer

Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) is a hardy perennial that can survive winter. In the fall, you can leave the stems standing over winter and cut them back in early spring before new growth emerges. Be sure to plant it in well-drained soil, as it does not tolerate soggy conditions, especially over winter. Butterfly Weed also emerges later in the spring, so don't worry if you don't see new growth right away! If you're growing it in a pot, the roots will need extra protection from freezing temperatures. Happy gardening!
