Oriental Poppy 'Harlem' has very large, papery flowers in a rich burgundy red-purple with a contrasting black centre. It's part of the New York series.
It blooms in late spring to early summer, then goes dormant for the rest of the season. Plant later-blooming perennials nearby to fill the space.
Oriental poppies are long-lived and very hardy. Deer and rabbits leave them alone. Use 'Harlem' as a bold accent in sunny borders.
