New open pollinated! Mini butternut squash on a compact bush plant. The 5 in. long fruit weigh from 1-1.5 lbs and have a very sweet and rich flavoured deep orange flesh. The rind starts off a dark green, turns tan and then a rich burnt orange colour at full maturity. Smaller butternut-simply cut in half and bake! Stores well.
Planting Instructions
Squash plants are frost tender and must be planted when danger of frost is past. For earlier fruit, plant in 3 in. jiffy pots or strips 3 - 4 weeks prior to intended date of transplanting to the garden. Plant the seed 1 1/2 in. deep and keep the soil warm, 22C. Space plants in the garden 3ft. apart. Fertilize with 10-52-17 and liquid seaweed for strong healthy plants.
