Home Orchard Collection

Home Orchard Collection

One tree pollinates two others - this collection is built to bear fruit. Three Prairie-tough plums and a slim columnar apple, curated so the American Wild Plum handles cross-pollination for both the Patterson and Pembina plums right in the same planting.

What's inside:

The pollination pairing is the backbone of this collection: Patterson Plum and Pembina Plum both require a wild plum to set fruit, and the American Wild Plum included here is rated one of the best pollinators for all hardy plums. That means two productive plum trees get what they need from a single companion already in the bundle. Add the Northern Arrow Treasure Red - a slim, upright columnar apple that tops out at only 3-4ft wide yet reaches ~15ft tall - and you have a compact four-tree orchard delivering deep-red freestone plums, sweet aromatic mid-season plums, and crisp cherry-red apples, all suitable for fresh eating, baking, jams, and preserves.

1 out of 2 trees seems dead. I have wrote twice to them with pictures and all the information stated on the website and never got an answer back...

The first tree purchased a few years ago is amazing. Lush and growing strong. 3 years later i was informed it needs a partner tree and is not self pollinating. Unfortunately this latest stock has failed to grow. A warranty claim will be started in August as told by staff member. I'll have to wait another year or so to see any apples

These wild plums are so small, about 6”, that you can hardly see them when planted. We had to put flags near them. I’ve been a customer for probably 20+ years and while the service is good, the bareroot stock used to be much bigger. The last several years or so, not so much. I was thankful to have found these trees though and the shipping was not too bad.

American Wild Plum rootstock is shipped as young, dormant bare-root stock. Because these are first-year plants, they may appear smaller than expected upon arrival. This is normal and does not reflect the health or future performance of the plant.

Once planted and given proper care, the root system will begin to establish, and the tree will direct its energy toward developing new shoots and growth. We recommend planting as soon as possible, watering consistently, and fertilizing according to the manufacturer's recommendations to encourage healthy establishment.

With proper growing conditions, American Wild Plum trees typically put on significant growth during their first growing season!

Pembina plum was planted two months ago and broke dormancy within two weeks. Developing very well

Patterson plumb was planted two months and two weeks ago finally broke dormancy. It is very slowly developing.

The tree has been planted for two months and no revival. This is on top of two trees ordered last year, ie Patterson plum and pembina plum that did not revive.

Thank you for the update, and for your patience through the six-week wait. Since it's now been two months with no growth, this qualifies under our warranty and we'll take care of it. Please send us an email to garden@ttseeds.com and we will have a warranty claim started for you right away.

I also want to acknowledge the Patterson Plum and Pembina Plum from last year that didn't take. Three plants not reviving in a row is well outside the norm, and I'd like to look into this properly rather than just resolve each one individually. Could you let me know the order numbers for those two as well, and briefly how and where they were planted? I want to make sure we're not missing something on our end, whether that's stock quality or care instructions that need to be clearer.

Did not bud out and could be non-viable. Please replace!

We recommend performing a scratch test if you haven't already. If you find green tissue beneath the bark, the tree is still alive and may simply be slower to break dormancy. Some apple trees can take 10 weeks or more to leaf out, depending on the variety and growing conditions. If the it still has no signs of growth after 10 weeks from planting, please send us clear photos of the entire tree, the base of the trunk, and the planting area. We'll be happy to review the information with you. Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing how your trees progress.
