Patriot is an upright highbush blueberry from the University of Maine. It yields 10 to 20 lb per bush at maturity.
Very large, firm berries with small, dry scars form in tight clusters. Harvest starts in early July and continues to mid-August. Originally released for home gardens, it's also popular with growers for its size and quality.
Patriot shows resistance to Phytophthora root rot and makes a good ornamental. Plant in a sheltered spot with good snow cover. Plant in full sun in well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.0-5.5). Mulch with pine needles or bark to keep roots cool and moist.
