Apple Tree Valentine

Apple Tree Valentine - 8019A

A remarkable Prairie apple with a story as special as its flavour. Valentine was originally selected by the late Bert Porter of Honeywood Nursery in Parkside, Saskatchewan, a renowned plant breeder celebrated worldwide for his lilies and deeply passionate about hardy fruit trees. Thought to be lost for many years, this exceptional apple was rediscovered by Jim Coutts of the Scott Experimental Farm in Unity, Saskatchewan.

Valentine is one of the largest-fruited hardy apples, often exceeding the size of commercial McIntosh apples. The fruit is yellow-green with a warm red cheek, juicy, and richly flavoured, excellent for both fresh eating and cooking. It ripens in late September and keeps well under refrigeration. Outstanding in pies and wonderful right off the tree.
