Beta vulgaris var. conditiva
Merlin grows quickly to produce tender-fleshed, dark ruby-red, globe-shaped beets. With a high brix content of 12 to 15%, these beets are exceptionally sweet and enjoyable. Harvest at any stage of maturity, either as baby beets or fully grown, as they hold their flavour well and do not become woody or tough. Excellent for roasting, in salads, for main dishes, or pickled beets.
Size: Globe-shaped beets reach approximately 2 to 3 in. in diameter.
Yield: 7 g of beet seed sows about 25 ft. of row, with approximately 50 beet seeds per gram.
Taste: Sweet, tender flesh that is dark ruby-red and full of flavour.
How to use: Ideal for roasting, fresh salads, main dishes, or pickling.
Planting tips: Sow in well-drained soil with good organic matter. Beets prefer full sun and can be planted in succession for continuous harvest.
