58 DAYS
Beta vulgaris

Beets Detroit Dark is a classic heirloom variety known for its deep red colour and tender, sweet flesh. This beet matures in approximately 58 days, offering smooth, round roots perfect for roasting, pickling, or enjoying fresh in salads. The dark green leaves are also edible, making a nutritious addition to any dish. This reliable and productive variety is a favourite among gardeners for its consistent yield and rich flavour.

Size: Roots reach approximately 2 to 3 in. in diameter with lush green tops.

Yield: 7 g of beet seed sows about 25 ft. of row, producing numerous beets per section.

Taste: Sweet with a mild earthiness; excellent when freshly harvested.

How to use: Great for roasting, pickling, and fresh salads. Beet greens can be sautéed or added to salads.

Planting tips: Sow seeds ½ in. deep in well-drained soil after the last frost. Beets prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade.

Harvest tips: Harvest when roots reach 2 to 3 in. in diameter; they are best when small and tender.

I have bought these same beets for years already. This year wasn’t very good for gardening in Regina - too hot - didn’t grow well

Hi Marilyn, thanks for your continued support! Sorry to hear the hot weather affected your garden this year. Hopefully, next season will bring cooler conditions for a better harvest. Happy gardening!
