Daucus carota

Danvers carrots are a fantastic choice for gardeners working with heavy clay soils, thriving where many others struggle. These carrots grow long, deep orange roots with sweet, flavourful flesh, making them the perfect selection for both fresh eating and storage. Known for their productivity and ease of harvest, you can rely on these heirloom seeds to deliver a bountiful crop.

Size: Roots reach approximately 7 in. in length; mature plants can attain a height of around 12 to 18 in.

Yield: High yield with approximately 900 seeds per gram, ensuring a plentiful harvest.

Taste: Naturally sweet with a robust flavour, these carrots are excellent whether eaten raw or cooked.

How to use: Ideal for fresh consumption, they can be beautifully incorporated into salads, roasted, or stewed. Perfect for long-term storage.

Planting tips: Sow outdoors as soon as the weather permits, covering seeds lightly with soil. Space seeds at 6 to 7 seeds per 1 ft. of row, in well-drained, average garden soil with full sun. Maintain moist conditions until germination, which occurs in 7 to 14 days.

Harvest tips: Thin seedlings to 1.5 in. apart when plants are 3 in. tall, and harvest when carrots are of a desirable size, usually around 68 days from sowing.

Pelleted seed.

Love them. Easy to grow and prep. Still have some in my freezer. Love the way that they bulldoze their way through tough soil. Hardy little guys.
