This dwarf columbine has purple outer petals around a soft yellow centre, with long, delicate spurs. The flowers rise on upright stems above a tidy mound of foliage.
It blooms from early spring into summer and flowers the first year. Hummingbirds and butterflies visit often, and deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.
It does best in part shade but tolerates sun in cooler gardens. Use it along edges, in containers or in woodland plantings.
