Hosta 'Island Breeze' brings a tropical look to the shade garden. It is the third member of the 'Fire Island' family and a sport of 'Paradise Island', with wider margins, thicker leaves and a stronger growth rate.
In early spring, wide, dark green margins contrast sharply with bright yellow centres. As summer arrives, the centres turn chartreuse in heavier shade or lighter yellow in more sun. Showy red-speckled stems bleed colour up into the leaves. Dark lavender flowers appear on reddish-green scapes in midsummer.
This is a premium hosta, selected for strong performance across many zones, a long season of interest, good leaf substance and better pest resistance. Its compact size suits containers, edging and the front of shady borders.
