Melissa officinalis

A fragrant perennial herb with soft green leaves that release a fresh lemon scent when crushed. Rubbing the leaves between your palms and applying the natural oils to exposed skin provides long-lasting mosquito protection. Lemon balm is easy to grow, attractive to pollinators, and useful both fresh and dried.

Size: Approximately 11 in. tall with a spread of 12 to 18 in.

Yield: Leaves can be harvested continuously throughout the growing season; regular cutting encourages a bushy plant.

Taste: Fresh, mild lemon flavour with a hint of sweetness, making it delightful in teas and cold dishes.

How to use: Great fresh in teas, salads, and desserts; can also be dried for flavouring or sachets.

Planting tips: Ideal for herb gardens, containers, raised beds, and garden borders in full sun to part shade. Prefers well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.

Harvest tips: Pinch or cut stems just above a leaf node to encourage dense regrowth and maximize harvests.

Pelleted seed.
