Mikes Pepper Hot (80 Days)
4,000-6,000 Scoville Units
A treasured family heirloom from Mike Stefancsik of Lethbridge, Alberta, this Hungarian-style pepper brings exceptional heat and flavour to the garden. The medium-sized fruit begin green, with a classic chili-pepper shape, and mature to a striking orange that stands out beautifully on the plant.
Mike describes the heat as “extreme”—so expect a bold bite with rich Hungarian pepper character. Great for fresh use, drying, pickling, or adding fire to sauces and traditional recipes.
A rare, Prairie-proven heirloom with beautiful colour, strong heat, and a story behind every harvest.
Planting Instructions
Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before transplanting out to the garden. Cover seeds with 1/4 in. of soil. Firm soil over seed. Keep moist but not waterlogged. To germinate maintain a soil temperature of 22°C. Seed should germinate in 10-14 days. Once seeds have sprouted, 14-16 hours of light per day is essential. Once plants have reached 5 in. transplant to 3 in. peat pots. Plants will develop better with a growing temperature of 17°C until transplanting out.
Pro Tip: Fertilize weekly with Liquid Seaweed Fertilizer for strong root development. Do not transplant out till night temperatures are warm.
