Biennial Chard produces fine-textured Spinach like leaves with much smaller stems than other chards. It will not go to seed in hot weather and will supply a steady source from spring until fall.
Planting Instructions
Seed outdoors as soon as weather and soil conditions permit. Sow seed 1 in. deep, 5-6 seeds per 1 ft. of row, in rows 15-18 in. apart. Later thin plants to 6 in. apart. Cultivate shallowly all season to avoid damaging the shallow roots. Seed outdoors as soon as weather and soil conditions permit.Successive seeding every 10-14 days will provide fresh chard all summer long. Swiss Chard may also be planted in the flower garden as a contrast plant.
