Description

Large 28 cm (11 in) long tapered roots are a beautiful scarlet color that gets brighter when cooked. This variety gets its hue from healthful Lypocene, credited for helping prevent several types of cancer. Draw out the Atomic Red’s remarkable color and flavor by steaming, roasting or baking these crispy roots.

Planting Instructions

Seed outdoors as soon as weather and soil conditions permit. Cover seed lightly with soil, 6 to 7 seeds per 30 cm (1 ft) of row. Average garden soil and a sunny location is ideal. Carrots germinate in 7 to 14 days. Keep soil moist until all seed has germinated, do not allow soil to crust. As Carrot seed is very fine it can cook on extreme hot days. The garden blanket is ideal as an aid speed-up germination. Thin to 3 cm (1 1/2 in) apart when plants are 6 cm (3 in) high. Approximately 900 seeds per gram.
